Owens Corning’s new app – US Technical Fabrics Guide – helps specifiers, fabricators, designers, and engineers easily discover broad range of Owens Corning’s glass fiber fabric products to meet application needs.
Owens Corning, a leading global producer of glass fiber reinforcements for composite systems, has released a US version of its innovative Technical Fabrics Guide for industrial, marine, and transportation applications. The free app, which was launched in Europe in March, has been updated for the US market and is available for Apple® and Android™ mobile devices.
The Technical Fabrics Guide includes product characteristics, benefits, and resin compatibilities for more than 50 featured fabric products in the US market, including unidirectionals, biaxials, multiaxials, complexes, specialty mats, and woven roving fabrics.
Owens Corning supplies an extensive range of woven, knitted, and specialty combination fabrics offering an array of innovative solutions for a range of processing methods including hand lay-up, spray-up, the more complex closed moulding, continuous lamination, pre-pregs, pultrusion, and various winding processes.
The unique material calculator enables users to estimate thickness for a laminate of a single product depending on the weight and fabric construction or, conversely, the glass content in a laminate to help identify the optimum solution for a given application. Results can be saved as ‘favourites’ for future reference or used to send a request for additional information or a quote.
Additional features include a “Fabrics Terminology” section defining 74 key terms and a “News” section. The app uses simplified lists of product names and nomenclatures, helping drive a common language across the composites glass fabrics industry.
This new, free app can be downloaded now from the App Store™ for iPhone® and iPad® devices and from Google Play™ Store app for devices for Android™. Simply search for “US Tech Fabrics Guide” and look for the US Version of the App.
The Technical Fabrics Guide is Owens Corning’s second Composites App, joining the OptiSpray®Solutions Benefits App released in 2013. There are also two Owens Corning apps available in support of Building Materials products.
