The new Smart TinyLab at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede, The Netherlands, is officially open. An unique test space where construction partners and companies involved in construction can develop, test and demonstrate their products in practice.
Experiments are possible for energy saving, generation, installations and comfort. Pilkington Nederland has contributed to the lab with Pilkington Insulight™ HeatComfort insulating glass units made of heated glass.
At Smart Tinlylab the voltage is applied to the special coating of Pilkington Insulight™ HeatComfort and the glazing generates heat, so that the triple insulating glass also becomes a heating element in addition to its standard properties.
With Smart TinyLab Pilkington would like to know more about Insulight™ HeatComfort in terms of energy consumption, comfort, noise, hygiene, connections and its applications in new construction and sustainable renovation. In addition, the company also wants to collect more information on investment and maintenance costs compared to other heating technologies.
