Owens-Illinois (O-I) has introduced an innovative packaging concept for the food industry. The VersaFlow carafe, in fact, has a unique pouring spout that allows consumers to pour liquids in a cleaner, more precise and aesthetic way.
Owens-Illinois (O-I), the world’s largest glass container manufacturer and preferred partner for many of the leading food and beverage brands, introduces VersaFlow carafe, an innovative packaging concept for the food industry. The VersaFlow carafe has a unique pouring spout that allows consumers to pour liquids in a cleaner, more precise and aesthetic way.
O-I will produce the innovative glass carafe for the European market at its Holzminden plant. “German consumers are increasingly asking for premium products, as well as convenience. VersaFlow Carafe serves this need by introducing an entirely new concept of glass containers,” says Matthias Warneke, sales director for O-I Germany. ”VersaFlow will be produced in Holzminden, one of O-I’s facilities that offers unique manufacturing expertise for the production of speciality glass containers.”
VersaFlow allows for clean and precise pouring directly from the container. The carafe significantly reduces dripping, making it a much more visually appealing and cleaner packaging option. VersaFlow responds to the growing demand of consumers for packaging that is not only functional but emotionally satisfying and visually appealing. “With VersaFlow, food producers can develop their brands with a completely new premium packaging concept and build a new brand experience,” said Steffi Lenz, innovation project manager at O-I Europe.
The VersaFlow concept was successfully tested in Germany by Edeka Zurheide during the Gourmet Festival in September 2012.
