Glass containers giant Owens-Illinois, Inc., announced 30 November 2004 the appointment of Carol R. Gee as chief communications officer effective 1 December 2004. In this new role at Owens-Illinois, Gee will lead the planning, development and implementation of the company“s global communication process. She will be responsible for aligning the worldwide strategy with all business unit strategies as well as developing a global organizational network to support Owens-Illinois“ communication challenges and objectives. Gee has spent 32 years in advertising, public relations, brand management and corporate communications roles in retailing, advertising agencies and with DuPont. She is a member of the Association of National Advertisers and is often a speaker for the American Management Association and the Conference Board. “We are seeking to improve our communications, both internally and externally, to help us leverage our global position, broaden our market base and speak as “One O-I.“ Good communications is a fundamental need in any transformation process,” said Steve McCracken, Owens-Illinois Chairman and CEO.
