The Pepsi Bottling Group, Inc., the largest producer and distributor of Pepsi-Cola beverages in the world, announced 3 June 2003 the signing of a Letter of Intent to acquire Olean Bottling Works, Inc. Based in Olean, New York state, the company serves customers in Allegany and Cattaraugus counties in New York and part of McKean County in Pennsylvania. Olean Bottling Works, Inc. has been owned and operated by the Dwaileebe family since 1931. “We are very pleased to welcome the Olean operations to our Company,” said John T. Cahill, Chief Executive Officer of PBG. “Since 1931, the Dwaileebe family has grown this business on a solid foundation of customer service and community interaction. We share this commitment at PBG and will continue to build upon these strengths as we grow our business in Western New York.” The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Olean Bottling Works runs a warehouse and office in Olean. The company employs around 50. The Pepsi Bottling Group, Inc. has operations in the U.S., Canada, Greece, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Turkey.
