PGT built the 96,000 square foot facility in expectation of greater demand for its window and door offerings from the rebounding homebuilding industry in Florida.
Custom window and door maker PGT Inc. has opened a 14 million USD glass plant in Venice, Florida.
The 96,000 square foot facility has been under construction since January and will employ about 220 people when running at full capacity.
The company believes the rebounding homebuilding industry in Florida will lead to greater demand for its window and door offerings. In addition to meeting demand, PGT expects to save money by buying less glass from outside companies.
PGT employs 1,800 people and recently posted quarterly sales of 77.3 million USD for a net income of about 6.2 million USD.
