US Carlyle Group and UK-based Gresham Private Equity may bid more than USD 453 million for Pilkington Australia, according to sources. Catalyst Investment Managers and a venture between Pacific Equity Partners and DMS Glass also requested sale documents, the sources said. Nippon Sheet Glass acquired Pilkington Plc for USD 4.9 billion in 2006, making it the world“s largest supplier of glass used in buildings and vehicles. Pilkington Australia was a unit of the UK firm.
