British glass maker Pilkington Plc said it had bought the Polish government“s 18.6% stake in Pilkington Sandoglass for UK 8.4 million in cash, taking its shareholding up to 75%. “Our Polish businesses are an increasingly important element in our European operations,” chief executive Paolo Scaroni said in a statement. Pilkington Sandoglass owns the first float glass plant in Poland, which started production in 1995.
