The U-shaped profiled glass with the widest range of solutions and surface finishes on the market, is now available in triple glazing and color coatings versions.
Pilkington Profilit™ has been offering designers very high thermal and acoustic insulating levels for many years, according to law requirements.
For example, installing Pilkington Profilit™ Plus 1,7 on positions #3 and #5 and Pilkington Profilit™ Amethyst on position #2, gives Ug thermal transmittance value 1.2 W / m²K, a g value up to 39% and a light transmission up to 37%.
By integration of one or several additional glass pane(s) into a double glazed Pilkington Profilit™ glazing the convection inside the setup is reduced and there are more possibilities of glass combinations with functional coatings. The flat intermediate pane in general consists of a 6 mm glass e.g. with “Plus 1.7”. This setup with “Plus 1.7” coatings on positions 3 and 5 generates a Ug value of 1,3 W/m²K in just 83 mm of thickness.
The system is supplied with PVC inlay profiles suitable for this type of configuration and with translucent clip to anchor and stabilize the intermediate panels. It is also available with thermal break profiles.
If that is not enough because climate conditions of the building are critical, or because client asks a even higher energy saving benefit, there are two more configurations that can satisfy further expectations. This is the demonstration of wide opportunities offered by this product.
Pilkington Profilit™ “2 Plus One”, with low emissivity coating ” Plus 1.7 ” on positions #3 and #5, this configuration achieves a Ug value of 1.1 W / m²K while offering very high light transmission.
Pilkington Profilit™ “2 Plus One”, with a low emissivity coating ” Plus 1.7 ” on position #5 and TIM ( Translucent Insulating Material ) in the outer cavity, provides optimum thermal insulation with a Ug value of 0.8 W / m²K.

This kind of Pilkington Profilit™ tempered glass is coated with a colored ceramic layer. It is available in a wide range of colors.
The colored ceramic can totally or partially cover the Pilkington Profilit™ panels for creating logos, decoration or advertising slogan. Designers have provided endless aesthetic solutions for interior and exterior applications.
