Pilkington has unveiled its 36 million GBP off-line coater at the Company’s Cowley Hill site in St. Helens, which is one of the most advanced facilities of its type in the world and is due to start operation in November. The coater enables ultra-thin special coatings to be applied to glass, creating a range of energy-saving glazing products. It will allow the group, owned by NSG, to manufacture a wider range of products in the UK. Cowley Hill will also meet demand from across Europe as well as the UK market.
