Piramal Glass installs CASE Pyrolysis Clean Coal Gasification Technology

The project is a retrofit design with “negligible alterations” made to the existing facilities

Piramal Glass Limited has successfully implemented Pyrolysis Clean Gas technology in their glass melting furnace in Jambusar, India, which CASE Group claims is “the first of its kind in the entire world.”

The gasification Project is a retrofit to the existing design of the furnace, and CASE claims that negligible alterations were required to inject coal gas into the melter. At this point, 40 percent of the plant’s thermal requirement are handled by the gas produced by the gasifier.

According to information found on CASE Group’s website(http://casepl.com/), Pyrolysis technology is available in two variant configurations, clean gas and very clean gas. The cleaner variant adds an indirect cooler to the configuration to ensure extraction of phenol water from the gas as well as an Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) to further ensure cleaner quality of gas. According to the product information, the selection of the two variants is directly related to the kind of application of the gas. Neither CASE nor Piramal Glass specified which variant was used at the facility in Jambusar.
