Rcent appointments at PPG Industries include the naming of Diane Kappas to vice president, environment, health and safety (EHS), and John Richter to vice president, operations, coatings, Asia/Pacific, at PPG’s China headquarters in Shanghai.

PPG Industries has appointed Diane Kappas vice president, environment, health and safety (EHS), effective 1 October. She will report to Michael H. McGarry, senior vice president, Commodity Chemicals, and succeeds John Richter, who has been named vice president, operations, coatings, Asia/Pacific, at PPG’s China headquarters in Shanghai.
As vice president, EHS, Kappas will lead all aspects of PPG’s global environmental affairs, which include product stewardship, health, safety, compliance assurance and the corporate medical function, as well as providing leadership for PPG’s corporate sustainability programmes.
Kappas joined PPG in 1986 as an engineer trainee in industrial coatings, and progressed through a series of coatings manufacturing roles at PPG sites. In 1998, she was named manager, corporate diversity, and in 2001, became plant manager of the Barberton, Ohio, speciality chemicals facility. She became director, supply chain, automotive replacement glass and North America refinish in 2004, and assumed her current assignment as business director, Teslin® products, in the silicas business in 2007.
