PPG to introduce Solarban 90 glass at GlassBuild America

PPG Industries will debut its new Solarban 90 glass for residential windows and also launch three new videos discussing low-emissivity (low-e) glass at GlassBuild America 2015.

Solarban 90 glass is designed to combine industry-leading solar control performance with the true neutral-reflective appearance of clear glass. Based on technical refinements to PPG’s proprietary triple-silver low-e coating technology, Solarban 90 glass delivers a solar-heat-gain coefficient (SHGC) that is up to 15 percent better than that of Solarban 70XL glass, the most preferred high-performance solar control low-e glass in North America. Using Solarban 90 glass may enable some window manufacturers to meet stricter energy performance mandates without significantly altering their window design or production parameters.

Another highlight will be the debut of three new instalments in the “Glenn the Glass Guy” video series. Glenn is an actor-portrayed PPG ‘expert’ who educates consumers about the science of glass performance. In the new videos, Glenn uses radiometers, heat lamps and a thermos to explain what low-e glass is, how it works, the differences between solar control and passive low-e glasses, and how each type of low-e glass helps homeowners save energy in different climates.
