Quanex Building Products Corp. has announced that it has agreed to buy insulation products maker Edgetech IG Inc. from Lauren International for USD 107 million in cash, in order to expand in the international market. Quanex said it expects this fifth acquisition in the window and door products market, which it entered in 1989, to add to its earnings from the first year after the deal“s close. Cambridge, Ohio-based Edgetech IG has three manufacturing facilities in the US, UK and Germany for the manufacture of glass insulation systems. Shares of the Houston-based Quanex have gained about 6% since reporting fourth-quarter results in December 2010.
