The owners of Quinn Glass Ltd.“s glass factory, which was completed in 2005 without planning consent, have lodged an appeal against Cheshire West and Chester Council“s enforcement proceedings. The company“s retrospective application in January 2008 was delayed by a High Court challenge by rival Ardagh Glass at the beginning of 2009, resulting in the serving of an enforcement notice. Quinn Glass“s appeal claims that the council should be allowed to determine the application, which, if successful, would render the notice unnecessary. The firm also said that it employs 700 people and is vital to the local economy.
