Quendoz Glas AG, located in Zurich, Switzerland, is an owner-managed family business with almost a hundred years of experience in glass construction and glass processing, offering a wide range of products and services. Aware that customer support is fundamental, the company has developed technical assistance from the project to the final installation, thus offering turn-key solutions.
Founded by Albert Quendoz back in 1927, the company serves custom-made products, focusing on glass design and proposals for interiors and exteriors. Thanks to the family generations that joined in different periods, Quendoz expanded its range of services and specialized in surface technologies and bespoke products.
Today Quendoz employs around 35 people and the fifth generation has recently taken over, a young and professional part of the management, bringing new ideas and attention to technologies.
Based on the idea that glass is “diversity and uniqueness combined,” Quendoz has enhanced its machinery by investing in one bending kiln and one laminating machine, in the view of improving its proposals for special glass products.
After investigating the market option, Quendoz visited RCN Solutions for a demonstration and discussion on the various solutions available and decided to purchase one bending kiln, ECO SPECIAL 3500 – active size 3,500 by 2,100 by 900 millimetres height – divided six heating zones, three upper and three lower sections, working independently to distribute the heat where more is required and according to the curve to be processed. The kiln is equipped with six inspection windows, automatic opening and remote control.
This heating system allows the production of complex curves, perfect in shape, without imperfections and distortions which makes the lamination of curved glass easier. Quendoz is supplier for glass installations of boutiques of the major Swiss brands for exquisite chocolates and luxury watches, thus the products delivered should be of high quality level. For this reason, Quendoz has decided to trust RCN and buy one laminating machine too: one LAMMY SYSTEM 180, single shelf– active size 3,000 by 1,800 millimetres, complete with one Silikosft bag, especially designed for lamination of curved glass, and one Eva roll-holder.
The combination bending and lamination is particular important because is part of safety products, but also an elegant and special installation for both outdoor or indoor. For this reason, RCN is focusing its production on machines for special products, because they offer added value and are the future of the glass market.
Both kilns have been successfully installed and Quendoz will be able to issue valuable production according to their experience and professionalism. RCN’s team has supplied all the technical service to put the customer in the position of starting production immediately, without downtime, in quick mode, thanks to the use of REVA BF, the RCN laminating interlayer. The duo RCN’s machine together with REVA BF forms an important instrument in production granting an accurate lamination, excellent result and consistent quality.
