Safety and fire-protection at Sluishuis with AGC’s Pyrobel glass

Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and Barcode Architects, the Sluishuis housing complex in Amsterdam is partly leaning over the water with walk-on, cantilevered windows

In Amsterdam IJburg, on the border where urban and rural areas and water meet, the residential development Sluishuis is taking shape. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and Barcode Architects, the Sluishuis housing complex partly leans over the water with walk-on, cantilevered windows. To ensure maximum safety and protection, the windows are equipped with fire-resistant glass with the very high EI60 classification and combined with laminated, toughened safety glass.

In the interview, Ronald Struik, Project leader MC Kersten, speaks on the collaboration with AGC Glass Europe. A result oriented partnership where the AGC Pyrobel team provided design input, its glass knowledge and project expertise as well as support during fire-tests in order to support the construction of this wonderful project.
