Net consolidated sales of the Saint-Gobain Group for the nine months to 30 September 2000 totalled _ 21.3 billion, up 27.3% from the _ 16.7 billion for the same period in 1999. Total glass sales for the period amounted to _ 8.4 billion, compared to _ 7.5 billion previously. Of these, flat glass accounted for just over _ 3 billion (up from _ 2.7 billion). Insulation and reinforcements generated sales of _ 2.4 billion and containers _ 2.9 billion, up from _ 2 billion and _ 2.7 billion respectively. According to Saint-Gobain, the group“s glass sector maintained growth, in line with first-half performance, thanks to sustained overall demand, both in Europe and in the United States, and to higher selling prices in the flat glass and reinforcements divisions.
