3 June 1999: Gullfiber, a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, the French glass and building materials group, is opening an insulation plant in Gliwice at the beginning of June. This will be the group“s fifteenth establishment in Poland. The Gliwice plant is a modernized mineral wool factory, to which a glass wool section was added. The factory represents an investment of FFr 330 million. Earlier this year Saint-Gobain bought ERG-Okfens, a PVC door and window producer in nearby Czeladz, and several weeks ago it opened a car glass plant in Dabrowa Gornicza. Saint-Gobain is the leading French investor in Poland, having committed a total of US$ 300 million (Euros 283.07 million).
