Saint-Gobain inaugurates World Glass Complex in Rajasthan

The World Glass Complex is Saint-Gobain’s newest manufacturing facility, and India’s largest and most modern, and is expected to accelerate Saint-Gobain’s momentum in realizing its vision of being the clear choice for glass solutions in India and the adjoining region.

With an investment of over USD 185 million (about INR 11.3 billion), the World Glass Complex at Bhiwadi was inaugurated on 27 October 2014 by the The Honorable Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje. It is Saint-Gobain’s pride as it is Saint-Gobain’s newest manufacturing facility, and India’s largest and most modern.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister remarked that setting up of the Glass Complex by the French giant was a matter of pride for the industrial sector in Rajasthan. She also said that the state government sees the companies which invest in Rajasthan as partners in growth and development. Expressing her happiness on the start of Glass Complex, Raje pointed out Saint Gobain’s involvement in skill development and dwelt on Rajasthan’s efforts in increasing employability of youth through the State’s Skill Development Programme.
The plant has a capacity to manufacture close to 1000 tonnes of glass per day. It is fully automated with state-of-the-art robotics and features several innovative features that are being deployed for the first time in the Indian Glass Industry.
The plant’s location is strategic, as the entire glass market of North India can be optimally serviced from Bhiwadi. Further, it being on the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor gives it significant logistics advantages. Truly, the Bhiwadi Plant will become Saint-Gobain’s gateway to further penetrate the North India market and to better serve its customers.
Mr. Santhanam, President Flat Glass South Asia, Malaysia and Egypt said on the occasion, “We strongly believe in India’s future and have consistently invested ahead of time in capacity, capability and technology. The Bhiwadi facility, which is Saint-Gobain’s newest and most modern float glass plant, will accelerate Saint-Gobain’s momentum in realizing its vision of being the clear choice for glass solutions in India and the adjoining region.”
