France“s Saint-Gobain, through Saint-Gobain Isover Austria (Construction Products Sector, Insulation), has purchased DBW srl, a leading Romanian producer of rock wool. Located in Ploiesti, approximately 60 km north of Bucharest, DBW srl has sales of EUR 5.6 million and around 100 employees. Saint-Gobain plans to invest EUR 25 million locally to build a glass wool production line of approximately 20,000 tons. The company says the investment will directly create 100 new jobs. The Isover brand is already established and recognised in Romania thanks to a sales and marketing team based in the country for several years. Saint-Gobain says the operation will boost Isover“s growth in Eastern Europe: half of the facility“s production output will be for the domestic market, while the other half will supply other regional countries.
