Verallia North America, a leading US manufacturer of glass containers, is sharing in the honour of the 2011 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award which has been announced for parent company Saint-Gobain from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). All Saint-Gobain businesses in the US are being recognized for their leadership in conserving energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This is the third consecutive year that Saint-Gobain and US subsidiaries such as Verallia North America have received the award. In fact, the company was recognized as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year in 2009 and 2010. No other manufacturer of glass containers has ever been honoured as a Partner of the Year or presented with a Sustained Excellence Award, which recognizes consistent efforts to use energy efficiently in facility operations and to integrate superior energy management into overall organizational strategy. The accomplishments of Saint-Gobain and its US companies will be acknowledged at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., on 12 April. The Sustained Excellence Award is the second honour from the EPA that Verallia North America has been associated with this year after the ENERGY STAR certification for its distribution centre in Fairfield, California, in January.
