Şişecam was awarded the third prize in Türkiye İMSAD Investment into Future Awards, Environmental Category with its 110 Gram Ultra Light Mineral Water Bottle, developed to meet the changing needs of the planet and society, in line with the company’s vision of creating sustainable value and “CareforNext” strategy.
Turkey’s lightest mineral water bottle stands out with its special design that makes it lighter and more environmentally friendly than its counterparts. While energy and raw material usage are reduced during the production of the bottle, carbon dioxide emissions associated with production and transfer are also decreased.
With innovative glass packaging designs and product light-weighting efforts, Şişecam aims to protect the planet with less energy consumption and less greenhouse gas emissions in production and transfer, and to transform lives by offering sustainable products that meet the changing needs of the planet and society.
In the production process of the eco-friendly mineral water bottle, which is considerably lighter than its counterparts thanks to its special design, 19 percent decrease in carbon emissions is achieved compared to 130 gram standard mineral water bottle. While transporting the product, 14 percent decrease of carbon emissions per kilometre is achieved with less trucks needed for transportation.
Turkey’s lightest mineral water bottle was produced at Şişecam Yenişehir-Türkiye Glass Packaging Factory and introduced in emerald green and flint colours. Şişecam aims to launch the mineral water bottle in international markets this year.
