Sisecam reports 15 percent increase in sales for 2014

Sisecam Group has achieved significant growth, backed by strong R&D and a focus on cost management and efficiency.

Şişecam Group reported consolidated net sales of about $2.6 billion, up 15 percent compared to the previous year. The company’s net profits were about $156 million and the EBITDA was $520 million. In 2014, the Group produced 4.2 million tons of glass, 2.1 million tons of soda and 4 million tons of industrial raw materials, according to the company’s 2014 consolidated financial results.
“In 2014, Şişecam, a group with manufacturing activities in 13 countries in 3 continents and sales in 150 countries achieved a significant increase in its international sales in addition to its domestic sales in Turkey. The share of international sales, which represent the exports from Turkey and the sales from overseas production, in total sales reached 52 percent. In this regard, the exports of the Şişecam Group from Turkey reached $ 837 million in 2014,” said Ahmet Kırman, vice chairman and CEO.
In 2014, Sisecam Group’s growth continued in expected manner with the investment spending of $450 million. We took significant key steps to improve the partnerships and acquisitions achieved by the group in 2013 in various geographical areas. This growth was backed by the projects and R&D efforts across the entire value chain, with an approach focused on total cost management and efficient use of resources. Our efforts also continued on restructuring the operating model in order to increase competitiveness in response to the uncertainties of the markets. Despite all these investments, we reduced our net indebtedness to $410 million with the high cash-generation capacity of our operations, and thus maintained to strengthen our financial structure thanks to shareholders equity and liquid resources which reached $2.68 billion and $1.04 billion, respectively,” he said.
