SMC has announced that its packaging division has completed the acquisition of Australian bottler Vinocor, which is a leading supplier of wine bottle closures and customized bottles.
The packaging arm of conglomerate San Miguel has completed the acquisition of Vinocor Worldwide Direct Pty. Ltd., a leading supplier of wine bottle closures and customized bottles in Australia.
The acquisition of Vinocor was made through San Miguel Yamamura Packaging International Ltd. (Smypil) through its new Australian subsidiary SMYV Pty Ltd.
With facilities and operations based in Adelaide, South Australia, Vinocor’s product portfolio includes cork, screw caps, customized glass bottles and champagne hoods and capsules.
“The acquisition will enable our packaging business to tap the expanding premium wine markets in Australia and New Zealand. Vinocor will complement our current packaging operations, the Cospak Group, in both countries,” SMC president Ramon S. Ang said in a statement.
San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corp. is the biggest packaging company in the Philippines. It also has facilities in China, Malaysia and Vietnam, through SMYPIL.
SMYPC and SMYPIL are joint ventures of SMC and Nihon Yamamura Glass Co. Ltd. of Japan.
