Italian glass group Finvetro has been bought by Italian glass maker Societ del Vetro SpA for an undisclosed sum, it was reported on 5 October 2005. Finvetro, established in 1959, is based in Verona, northern Italy, and is a leading car lighting manufacturer. The firm operates internationally through subsidiaries Vetrerie Riunite, a producer of glass for head- and rearlights, and glass companies Technoglass and VetriDelle Venezie. The company operates plants in Colognola ai Colli (Verona), Molinetto di Mazzano (Brescia, northern Italy), Sofia, Bulgaria, and Voitsberg, in south-east Austria. Finvetro curently employs 662 workers. In 2004, the company generated a consolidated turnover of EUR 80 million (USD 96.4 million). Societ del Vetro is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Web Investment Network N.V. (W.I.N.), owned by Italian financier Gianluca Vacchi.
