Solar meets Glass – 3rd Industry Forum for Markets, Costs and Technology

‘Solar meets Glass – 3rd Industry Summit for Markets, Costs and Technology’, organized by Solarpraxis AG and Messe Düsseldorf, will take place 22 and 23 October 2012, and is aimed at the photovoltaic, solar energy and CSP segments and all areas of the glass industry.

Solarpraxis AG and Messe Düsseldorf are bringing together the solar and the glass industry for what is now the third time at ‘Solar meets Glass – 3rd Industry Summit for Markets, Costs and Technology’ on 22 and 23 October 2012. The aim is to discuss and debate current issues affecting both sectors and to coordinate together the needs of each. Following a general look at the market and technologies, the conference will be focussing on sustainable markets, cost reductions and technological development, providing strategic know-how for investment decisions and production optimization. The summit is aimed at the photovoltaic, solar energy and CSP segments and all areas of the glass industry.
All companies, associations, institutes and research institutions and any other interested specialists are invited to respond to the call for papers regarding the following topics:

  • markets: Current and future markets, market development, market environment, main players on the markets, market constraints, sources of information;
  • technology: Efficiency, technical improvements, innovations, current development;
  • costs: Development of costs along the value creation chain, profitability and price development for raw materials and intermediate products, alternative materials, potentials for cost reduction;
  • quality: Instruments for quality assurance in production, compliance of standards, tools for quality control, sustainability;
  • production: Optimization of production processes, potentials for cost reduction in production, automation, utilization, production capacities, supplier industry, role of equipment, price development;
  • materials: Availability, Toxicity, Studies in the field, Recycling matters, Environmental impacts;
  • logistics: Transport routes, optimization potential, transportation costs, proportionality, coordination between the manufacturers of the individual links of the value creation chain;
  • standardization: Status quo, specifications from other industries, current developments;
  • in cases of particular interests, also presentations on other issues relevant for the conference issues will be considered.

Contributions will be assessed by a committee, as per the following selection criteria: the relevance of the topic to the solar and/or the glass branch, the neutrality of the presentation, and the level of innovation. Company and product presentations will not be considered.
Papers are to be submitted by 10 May 2012; confirmation of acceptance to authors: 10 July 2012; and submission of PowerPoint documents for quality assurance purposes: 1 October 2012.
Time available for the presentation: depending on the session, the speaker will have 15-20 minutes for his talk and will be limited to 20 slides per presentation.
The authors of accepted papers will have access to the conference free of charge.
The PowerPoint slides of the presentation held will be included on the Solarpraxis website as a protected pdf after the conference. Only accepted presentations will be published.
The following information must also be included in abstract pdfs (1 page max.):

  • author’s name;
  • company or institution name;
  • title of the contribution;
  • summary of content;
  • author’s contact details.
