SORG builds the world’s largest regenerative endport furnace for FEVISA

SORG Group has reached another significant milestone with the construction of the world’s largest regenerative endport furnace at FEVISA’s San Luis Potosí, Mexico, plant.

The furnace has a melting area of approximately 190 m² and is designed for the production of bottles and containers in the glass colours flint and Georgian green from soda-lime glass.

A melting booster, a barrier booster and a throat booster are integrated into the gas-fired melting furnace. The glass conditioning system consists of a SORG STW distribution channel and 3 SORG 340S+® tandem forehearths. The batch is fed via 2 IRD®-Doghouses, each with an EME-NEND® S3 batch charger.

SORG developed the design for the furnace, distribution channel and forehearths, as well as the engineering for the equipment parts.

The complete glass melting system, consisting of the fossil and electric heating system with emergency heating, cooling water system and the other furnace equipment were supplied by SORG. The furnace, distribution channel and forehearth are controlled by a redundant software control system based on SORG SCADA WINCC.

The furnace and glass conditioning were installed under the supervision of SKS.
