Cape Town-based aluminium and steelwork group Mazor Group has agreed to buy glass distributor Compass Glass for a maximum of ZAR 50 million (USD 6.32 million), it said on 5 June 2008. “The acquisition of Compass Glass further expands Mazor“s newly developed glass division, taking advantage of a segment within the construction sector where much opportunity exists”, the group said. Compass Glass“s business involves the fabrication and distribution of glass, including the manufacturing of laminated and toughened safety glass as well as double-glazed units. The deal, effective 1 July 2008, is subject to approval by Mazor shareholders.
