28 January 1999: US-based SpecTran Corporation announced that Peter Pilon has been named by its Communication Fiber Technologies subsidiary to the newly created position of Vice President of Manufacturing and Engineering. In his new position, Pilon will be responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing and engineering operations at SpecTran Communication Fiber Technologies, Inc.“s production facility in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. He will also be responsible for Quality, Materials, and Facility Services. While at SpecTran, Pilon has led the manufacturing introduction of singlemode fiber, achievement of ISO-9001 quality systems certification, and the building of an organization and systems that enabled a tripling of sales via capacity expansions.
