Steklarna Hrastnik Begins Renovation Work

Steklarna Hrastnik investing around 8 Million EUR in line modernization for bottle production line.

Steklarna Hrastnik has begun implementing modernization of the production line and reconstruction of the furnace for the special division, which produces bottles. Production during the time of restructuring will be halted, and is expected to be restarted by November 3. In addition to renovating the melting furnace, the company will install a new highly automated line, carry out maintenance of the closed-loop system for wastewater and implement measures to reduce energy consumption, reduce emissions and increase operational safety. With this work completed, the company will be able to produce two-liter bottles, and efficiency and quality of the production will be enhanced.
The cost of this work is estimated to be 8 million EUR. An additional 800,00 EUR will be invested on upgrading automated control lines and cooling and vacuuming of production lines, which will further increase production capacity.
The project is expected to take 49 days. and more than 300 employees an external experts will cooperate on the project, working 24 hours a day. After completion, the company predicts that it will expand from the current rate of 120 tonnes per day to 140 tonnes per day with a better quality glass and significantly lower energy consumption.
The investment in the Special division is the biggest this year and is the latest important technological investment into the production of Steklarna Hrastnik after last year’s investment in G furnace in Vitrum division.
