Italian glass artist Mr. Lino Tagliapietra has been awarded the 2012 “42nd. Phoenix Award, Glass Person of the Year”.
The renowned Italian glass artist Mr. Lino Tagliapietra has been awarded the 2012 “42nd. Phoenix Award, Glass Person of the Year”. Mr. Tagliapietra has earned this distinguished award for his contribution to the glass industry, in the field of Art.
Born and raised on the famous Venetian glass blowing island of Murano, he started to learn the art of blowing glass from the age of 11 years. By the age of 21 he had achieved the status of ‘Maestro Vetraio’. He worked with many of the top Muranese Glass producers until 1989, when he began his career as an independent artist. Lino has exhibited at many major museums and galleries around the world and has collected many honors and accolades on the way. As well as being recognized as one of the world’s greatest leaders in studio glass art, he is also identified as a leading teacher to some of the most talented up and coming glass blowers and artists. His teachings encompass the world from, Italy, USA, Japan and Australia.
