Some of Taiwan“s LCD panel makers, already slowed down by weak demand in the market, have been further hit by departures of R&D employees and issues with product quality, according to industry sources. These losses have resulted in reduced benefits for staff, which, in turn, has prompted R&D engineers to quit, the sources said. Other factors, according to the industry sources, include quality issues with the production of monitor panels of some first-tier makers, resulting in a high rate of rejection of their shipments by clients. The sources added that this reduced output has caused problems to the pace of production, which is one of the reasons behind the quality issues.
