Together Towards VITRUM 2025: Uniting the Glass Industry

Great participation and success marked the launch of VITRUM25, with the conference titled “Building as Green as Glass,” dedicated to the role of glass in sustainable construction. Held on September 17, the event laid the foundation for new synergies within the glass supply chain and beyond.

The 2025 edition of VITRUM, scheduled for September 16 to 19 at Fiera Milano, is set to be a key event for the industry, thanks to the close collaboration between major sector associations: Assovetro, Glass Group and GIMAV. This exceptional partnership, reflected in the edition’s title “At the Heart of Glass,” underscores VITRUM’s role as a shared platform for the entire sector, committed to promoting excellence in an ever-evolving context.

“We’ve built the next edition around the involvement of the entire supply chain because only with a comprehensive vision can we be resilient and become a prime example of collaboration,” said Dino Zandonella Necca, President of GIMAV and VITRUM. “The launch event for VITRUM25 has set in motion a series of initiatives that will guide us, united, towards the show, focusing on key themes for the glass industry.”

The fair will offer a unique opportunity for companies and professionals, providing an ideal environment to discuss innovation, growth and sustainability. In a critical period shaped by the European Green Deal and new regulations like the Minimum Environmental Criteria, unity within the supply chain becomes essential.

“The challenges facing companies in the coming years cannot be tackled alone. We need a vision geared towards cross-partnerships, capable of creating an ecosystem to shape the flat glass processing industry and propel it towards new areas of competition,” said Lucia Masutti, General Director of Glass Group.

This association, established as a hub for the flat glass sector, has set its sights on creating opportunities for dialogue aimed at developing strategic synergies to evolve the industry.

“We strongly believe that this ecosystem can now, more than ever, be represented by VITRUM, an international event where technology and material transformation techniques come together to create solutions that meet new demands.”

A unified approach will allow the industry to address crucial issues such as increasing national production to avoid reliance on imports and highlighting glass’s central role in the ecological transition, being both eco-friendly and recyclable.

These synergies extend beyond the glass sector. A stop on the road to VITRUM will be NetZero Milan, an international expo-summit organized by Fiera Milano, scheduled for May 14 to 16, 2025, at Allianz MiCo. Structured around four pillars – technology, policy, business and finance – NetZero Milan will serve as a cross-sector platform, bringing together C-level executives, decision-makers and international stakeholders to discuss and promote innovative solutions for a zero-emission economy.

In this context, glass industry players will also have the opportunity to find solutions and best practices to meet decarbonization targets, gaining the skills and tools necessary to embark on a tailored path of change, balancing actions strategically and financially to combine efficiency, safety, and competitiveness.

VITRUM25 is thus positioning itself as a benchmark for the sector, guiding the industry in a unified direction focused on sustainability, innovation, and value creation across the entire supply chain. Together towards VITRUM25: a mission for a greener and more competitive future for the entire glass industry.
