Triulzi alongside Brightlands Materials Center for Coating Pilot Line

The first Coating Pilot Line for Smart Windows was inaugurated on Tuesday October 10, at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus in the Netherlands: a project that Triulzi supported from the beginning, providing one of its machines (model TOSCANA.Y.1000) to be inserted within the process.

After years of study and research to find an intelligent solution that could control the temperature and comfort in households and commercial buildings, the Brightlands Materials Center team has developed a smart thermochromic coating which switches automatically to keep your home cool in summer, yet is transparent for solar heat during winter days.

In this way, it is possible to substantially reduce the use of cooling systems (such as air conditioners) and heating systems (powered by gas, wood or pellets): the thermochromic coating switches automatically from a certain temperature, allowing the windows to be placed in regular frames (without electrical systems/wires),  and this has a significant impact on reducing pollution and waste.

The event, held September 10, in which the new pilot plant was officially presented to the world, was just the first step of a long journey that will bring much satisfaction to the Brightlands Material Center. The next goal is to scale the process and to create demonstration windows with SunSmart coating that can be tested in real occupied buildings environment. A unique opportunity that will allow companies, industry professionals and end-users to experience the real difference that Smart Windows can make in the field of automatic temperature regulation.

Triulzi has chosen to collaborate with Brightlands Materials Center (a joint innovation centre founded by TNO and the Province of Limburg) as it works daily to develop innovative materials for a sustainable future and, in the field of sustainable buildings, it has the ambitious goal of “building a brighter future through the power of sunlight.” It is a goal that can also be achieved by exploiting the characteristics of glass.

In addition to this synergy related to the material on which, in recent times, Brightlands Materials Center’s research has focused – as in the Smart Windows project – another common point Triulzi found with this reality is the desire to build a greener future.

Triulzi works with particular commitment to the sustainability of production processes and solutions, in search of a right balance for the environment. This continuous research results in the creation of increasingly efficient and eco-friendly machines. Thanks to the latest generation of electronics, Triulzi machines can reduce energy consumption and resources, “compromise” that doesn’t penalize the final result.

But it doesn’t end there: Triulzi is concretely doing its part to achieve some of the 17 Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs) formulated by the United Nations General Assembly (Agenda 2030). This commitment guides Triulzi’s behaviour and its choices in the company and, every day, the work to ensure that the impact of this industrial activity is limited: reduction of energy consumption, reduction of waste and circularity of materials are the key words that guide the operations in Triulzi and that allow them to develop solutions with a lasting life cycle.

In order to support research and development of solutions that can contribute to an increasingly green future, Triulzi is at the side of institutions and privates whose projects can concretely revolutionize daily activities in terms of sustainability and recycling (just as the Brightlands Material Center’s with the pilot coating line for Smart Windows).

When it comes to sustainability and innovation, Triulzi never backs down.
