New Zealand“s Tui Brewery, known for its cheeky “Yeah right” billboards, is about to launch a new bottle it says will revolutionise the beer market. Its award-winning Tui Blond Lager will hit the shelves on 6 June 2011 in the new bottle. Parent company DB Breweries said it would be the first product in the southern hemisphere to be bottled with a “vortex internal neck emboss” like rifling in a gun barrel. Manufactured and trademarked by O-I Glass in Auckland, the new vortex bottle is said to work by “invigorating the beer as it flows over a series of spiral grooves”. A spokesperson for DB claimed that the technology was developed because consumers were no longer pouring beer into glasses before drinking, which they claim is what releases the beer“s flavour and aroma.
