At its autumn 2004 meeting, the Board of Directors of UEMV, the umbrella organisation for the European flat glass industry, elected Mr. Willy Swinkels as its new vice-president in the role of president-elect. It is “highly likely” that Mr. Swinkels will become president for the 2006-2007 term, according to a representative of the association. Thirty-four year-old Mr. Swinkels represents The Netherlands on the Board. The new vice-president is chairman of SVG, the glass and glazing section within trade association Koninklijke FOSAG. Mr. Swinkels is a partner of family-owned firm Glascentrale Swinkels in Eindhoven. UEMV members are national glass and glazing organisations from twelve European countries, which represent thousands of European companies through their national organisations. The North American organisation National Glass Association (NGA) is an associate member. Member companies are active in all facets of architectural glass and glazing as well as a significant part of the auto glazing repair and replacement market.
