In January 2005, Ukrainian production of cast, rolled, blown or drawn, sheet or profiled glass increased by 7.4% versus January 2004 to 0.8 million square meters, according to figures from the State Statistics Committee. In December 2004 production of these types of glass rose by 8.7% compared to December 2003 to 0.8 million square meters. In 2004 output went up by 18.3% versus 2003 to 9 million square meters. Cast, rolled, blown or drawn glass is characterized by relatively low surface quality and considerable optical distortion. It is used in glazing applications where optical distorsion is irrelevant, and in decorative applications.
