In July 2005, production of cast, rolled, blown or drawn, sheet or profiled glass rose by 5.9% compared to July 2004, to 0.8 million square meters, the Ukrainian State Statistics Committee revealed. The production figure was up 2.4% on June 2005. In the January-July 2005 period, production of cast, rolled, blown or drawn, sheet or profiled glass was up 3.7% on the corresponding period in 2004, to 5.2 million square meters. In 2004, output of these types of glass increased by 18.3% compared to 2003, to 9 million square meters. Cast, rolled, blown or drawn glass typically has relatively low surface quality and high optical distortion, and is used for glazing with no optical distortion requirements (e.g. depots and greenhouses) or for the decoration of buildings.
