In 2003 ampoule and flask producer the Poltava Medical Glass Factory (Poltava) plans to reduce production by 14% or UAK 7.1 million to UAK 44 million. Repairs to the plant“s glass furnace and the suspension of production during August 2003 are the reason for the planned reduction. A source for the factory said such repairs were carried out every two years. In 2003 the plant plans to continue work in modernizing ampoule-production lines. The Italian firm of ARISTE has won the contract to supply new ampoule lines for a new design, due to start production in March, and which will lead to power savings of 25%.
