In October 2007, the Ukraine“s soda ash exports rose by 21.2% or 8,851 tons compared to October 2006, to 50,504 tons, while revenues from exports rose by 40.2% or USD 2.572 million to USD 8.970 million, according to figures from the State Statistics Committee. Russia was the major importer of Ukrainian soda ash in October 2007. Its share of the total volume of soda ash exports was 41.3%. In the January-October 2007 period, soda ash exports rose by 16.2% or 64,102 tons year-on-year to 460,658 tons, worth USD 75.773 million. In the same period 2006, the Ukraine exported 396,556 tons worth USD 61.580 million. In 2006, soda ash production decreased by 1% compared to 2005, to 928,300 tons, while soda ash exports fell by 4% on 2005, to 489,034 tons worth USD 75.728 million. The Ukraine exported 509,450 tons worth USD 73.111 million in 2005. The Crimean soda plant (Krasnoperekopsk, Crimea) is the only producer of exported soda (A brand).
