In February 2007, production of soda ash in the Ukraine fell by 8.8% or 6,200 tons compared to February 2006, to 64,300 tons (100%, without potash) according to a source at the Cherkasy state scientific and research institute. In February 2007, the OJSC Crimean Soda Plant reduced soda ash production by 1% to 51,000 tons and the OJSC Lysychanska Soda cut output by 30% to 13,300 tons. In January-February 2007, production of soda ash fell by 3.3% or 4,700 tons compared to January-February 2006, to 142,200 tons. In January 2007, production of soda ash increased by 2.1% or 1,500 tons compared to January 2006, to 73,200 tons (100%, without potash).
