In July 2008, the production of soda ash in the Ukraine rose by 15.3% or 11,500 tons year-on-year to 86,500 tons (100%, potash free), according to the Cherkasy State Scientific Research Institute of Technical and Economic Information for the Chemical Industry. In July 2008, OJSC Crimean Soda Plant increased its soda ash output by 6.5% to 66,000 tons and OJSC Lysychanska Soda increased its production by 57.7% to 20,500 tons. In January-July 2008, soda ash production rose by 9.8% or 51,300 tons to 574,700 tons, compared to January-July 2007. In June 2008, soda ash production fell by 1.7% or 1,300 tons to 73,800 tons compared to June 2007. In 2007, soda ash production rose 6.9% or 60,500 tons to 936,800 tons, compared to 2006.
