In December 2005, Ukrainian soda ash exports increased by 27.9% or 10,037 tons compared with December 2004, to 46,060 tons; revenue from exports rose by 63.4% or USD 2.711 million to USD 6.986 million, while production for the month was 19% higher year-on-year according to the State Statistics Committee. However, compared to November 2005, soda ash exports in December were down by 15.5% or 8,446 tons. Russia was the main buyer of Ukrainian soda ash exports in December, with 41% of the total volume. For the year, soda ash exports increased in 2005 by 34.8% compared to 2004, to 509,450 tons for USD 73.111 million (378,035 tons for USD 43.487 million in 2004). In 2005, production of soda ash increased by 22% compared to 2004, to 940,700 tons. Soda ash exports in 2004 were 6.8% up on 2003, to 378,035 tons for USD 43.487 million (354,112 tons for USD 34.081 million in 2003). The Crimean soda plant (Krasnoperekopsk, Crimea) is the only producer of exported soda (A brand).
