In May 2007, the Ukraine“s production of soda ash rose by 7.6% or by 6,000 tons compared to May 2006 to 86,700 tons (100%, potash free), according to figures from the Cherkasy State Scientific Research Institute. Output of soda ash in May 2007 increased at OJSC Crimean Soda Plant by 18.8% to 66,500 tons, while OJSC Lysychanska Soda reduced output by 18.2% to 20,200 tons. In January-May 2007, production of soda ash fell by 5.7% or by 22,500 tons on the same period in 2006 to 373,300 tons. In April 2007, production of soda ash fell by 10.8% or by 9,400 tons versus April 2006 down to 77,600 tons (100%, potash free). In 2006, the production of soda ash fell by 1% compared to 2005, down to 928,300 tons.
