US manufacturer of high-performance ultrasonic spray coating equipment, Ultrasonic Systems, Inc. (USI), has announced the release of its PV-480 system for CdTe module coating applications. According to the company, the PV-480 benefits from its proprietary, nozzle-less ultrasonic spray head technology obtaining thinner, more uniform coating deposition compared to conventional spray technologies. Optimized for high-volume, in-line manufacturing, the PV-480 can, the company says, process glass plates up to 48 inches wide at speeds of up to six feet per minute. The PV-480 delivers liquid coating with transfer efficiencies in excess of 90%, thanks to a traversing Ultra-Spray blade head, ideal for the application of cadmium chloride solution and anti-reflective coatings, as well as other low viscosity liquids. The system can be operated both in-line or as a stand-alone process, and can be controlled via touch screen user interface.
