The URSA company, a major European building materials producer, is to change its expansion strategy in the Ukraine. A unit of Spain“s Uralita Group, URSA will build its own fiberglass plant in the Ukraine by 2009. It currently imports products to the country from Hungary, Russia and Poland. Project investments are put at EUR 80-90 million and the capacity will be 45,000 tonnes of glass wool per annum. The bulk of the future output will be sold domestically. In 2006, 4.0 million cubic metres of heat insulation materials, worth EUR 120 million, were sold in the Ukraine, including 1.5 million cubic meters (or 18,000 tonnes) of glass wool. The main players on the domestic market were ISOVER (with 47% of the market in terms of sales volume) and URSA (45%).
