USA: LCD TV sales remain strong

The US LCD market has performed better than Europe and China, a better-than-expected market performance that is expected to give a boost to sales of TVs in the China market.

Having experienced a peak season in the fourth quarter of 2011, sales of LCD TVs in the North America market have, according to industry sources, remained steady recently, indicating a pick-up in demand momentum.
The US market has performed better than Europe and China, thanks to rallies in the stock market and a rebound of US consumer confidence, which, according to sources, scaled a one-year high in February.
This better-than-expected market performance in the US is expected to give a boost to sales of TVs in the China market, since the US market has been regarded as a driver for the industry.
Local brands in China reportedly plan to roll out high-end slim bezel TVs before the May holiday season to compete with comparable models from international players.
Samsung Electronics, Sharp and Sony, according to earlier reports, also plan to launch entry-level 3D-enabled TVs in the China market for the upcoming buying season.
