The Uzbek government has passed a feasibility study of a project to establish the Uzbek-German Uzglasseiden joint venture to produce fibreglass. Among the joint venture co-founders are the Uzbek Onix company, Glasseiden GmbH and the Preiss-Daimler group of Germany. Foreign investors hold 51% in the project, with 49% owned by the Uzbek side. The project is estimated at a total of DM 85.6 million. Of that, DM 58 million will finance the purchase of equipment. Germany is expected to extend loans for nine years. The joint venture will produce 8,600 tonnes of fibreglass, with half the amount to go for export.
