VDMA at glasstec 2022

Machine and plant manufacturers, craftsmen, architects and suppliers will find and show trends and innovations around the subject of glass at Glasstec

As the conceptual sponsor and cooperation partner of Messe Düsseldorf, the VDMA Glass Technology Forum is responsible for key programme content at the Glasstec conference and activities at its own stand in Hall 15B26.

Visitors to Glasstec can expect a wide range of glass products and applications, glass manufacturing and production technology, measurement and control technology, software as well as glass processing and finishing. In 2018, 42,600 visitors from 126 countries came to the fair with 1,276 exhibitors from 50 countries.

The trend topics revolve around global challenges such as climate change, the availability of raw materials and energy and changes in lifestyles. The four-day Glasstec conference in Hall 11B24 will address these issues, offer solutions and invite discussion. On the afternoon of Tuesday, 20 September, the Glass Technology Forum will organise the programme. Five lectures will give an insight into how interoperability is implemented in glass processing and what the necessary organisational and technical infrastructure looks like in the background. The presentations will be rounded off by an outlook into other industrial sectors.

Three start-ups as guests at the Forum Glastechnik
From Tuesday to Thursday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., young companies will demonstrate their innovations live for a maximum of 30 minutes. It starts on Tuesday with the start-up Innocise, which has taken nature – in this case a gecko – as its model. Anyone who wants to see how a robotic arm grips the smallest and largest panes of glass without any residue or the influence of external energy can come to the VDMA in Hall 15B26 on 20 September.

On Wednesday, September 21, the company Fusion Bionic will present how a high-speed laser process can be used to create multifunctional surfaces, for example with bio-inspired principles such as the lotus or moth-eye effect. This technology is exciting for a wide variety of applications.

The company Oculavis will conclude the series on Thursday, September 22. The start-up’s declared goal is to bring technical knowledge in mechanical and plant engineering to any place in the world with remote support and augmented reality workflows. On the penultimate day of the fair, visitors will learn how they can shorten machine downtimes and save travel costs.

Students in conversation with industry
On Friday, 23 September, the VDMA welcomes students from the Department of Materials Engineering/Glass/Ceramics (Höhr-Grenzhausen) at the TH Koblenz, who will be invited to the exhibition stands of VDMA members for discussions with industry representatives.

Also supported by the VDMA, the EXPO FOR DECARBONIZED INDUSTRIES will take place parallel to glasstec and will focus primarily on the transformation of energy sources. A highlight is the #Power2X Conference on September 19 and 20. As an industry summit, it brings together all the important players who are needed to take the step from theory to practice. The conference therefore focuses on concrete technical issues.
